Catalog
Introduction
The View Catalogue is your personal and collaborative library of perspectives on the information system and the organisation. It enables efficient retrieval, organisation, and navigation across various representations of the assets modelled in Boldo.
Purpose
Provide quick and structured access to personalised or shared representations of the repository, tailored to different use cases (analysis, review, reporting, planning, etc.).
Available View Types
Each view represents a filtered or structured perspective on the assets and their relationships. Boldo offers several types of visualisations to meet different needs:
- Inventory View:
A tabular display that allows filtering, sorting, and exploring object properties. Ideal for analysis or preparing data update campaigns. - Graph View:
An interactive graph representation connecting objects. Perfect for exploring dependencies or analysing the impact of a change. - Nested Card View:
A hierarchical visualisation, often used to represent business domains, functional areas, or organisational structures. Useful for navigating from high-level to detailed views. - Diagrams:
Static or interactive schematic representations to illustrate a target architecture, a data flow, or a transformation roadmap.
Organising Views
To keep your workspace clear and well-structured, views can be organised:
- By folders – grouped by usage (Projects, Repository, Strategy, etc.)
- And subfolders – sorted by scope, team, or business object
This hierarchy helps users quickly find relevant views without clutter.
Search and Filtering
An integrated search bar makes it easy to find a view by name, type, folder, or key property. This simplifies navigation even within a large catalogue.
"Same Type Only" Option
A boolean filter called “Show same type views only” lets you display only views that match the currently selected view type (e.g., only graph views). This helps you stay within the same analysis mode without switching formats.
Best Practices
Use clear, explicit names for your views (e.g. “Critical Applications – Production”)
Structure your folders around each project or strategic initiative
Archive or delete outdated views to keep the environment tidy
Share useful views with colleagues to encourage collaboration
